They have the mountain and snowflake and can be used year round. Most “all season” tires are shit in snow, but these “all weather” tires promise to be better in snow since they do have the official winter tire certification.

Like Nokian WRG2/3 and Vredestein Quatrac 3/5, Toyo Celsius, and a couple others that are only sold in Canada but not down here. How are they in the snow, and how are they in warmer weather? Anybody have experience with these tires?

Are they really usable year-round, or are they just performance winter tires? (Like Pirelli Sottozero, Michelin Pilot Alpin, Yoko Wdrive, etc)

Tire Rack has no info about these since they don’t carry any of them.

all weather are not winters. (speaking as a Canadian who lives in north western quebec)

all weathers will be decent in places that 1 don’t get much snow, and places that are warmer. for instance Vancouver.

That being said, all seasons will tend to use quicker in warmer temps. So after a summer usage, I wouldn’t really trust them for winter.

my GF put a set of nokian Rotiva ATs on her Tacoma last year. They’re perfectly cromulent in the snow, but the treadlife leaves something to be desired. The treadwear indicator will be below the snowflake on all four before this winter hits (about 2ok miles).

Yep. We usually don’t get enough snow to warrant a full set of winters for me.

No experience with them, but they’re not performance winters. Nokian’s got the WR A4 and Vredestein the Wintrac Xtreme S to fill that niche.

Nokians are sold down here, you just got to find a distributor. That said the WR’s are great tires. I know a couple people that run them on their cars and they grip like the dickens in the snow and are decent the rest of the year, so long as you’re not taking them to track days, bro.

well i get crapped on by lake effect snow here in Michigan and always run all seasons and never had an issue. Even with my unloaded f350 in 2wd

Used Nokian wrg2 as winter tires on my 540 with no issues whatsoever. Used them year round on my wife’s maxima and now she has the suv version on her mdx. A little noisy, not the longest lasting, but that thing feels like it could climb a tree if you asked it to.

Over the years, I’ve run a set or two of all-terrain truck tires on my tow vehicles that had the snowflake on the mountain symbol for running up to mountains during the snow storm to lay first tracks at the ski area the following morning. Their snow/ice performance was not like running dedicated winter tires, but it was marginally better than a typical on/off road all-terrain truck tire. Thinking back, their deep and packed snow performance was great, but on ice they were inferior to a dedicated winter tire.

You can buy the snowflake/mountain symbol tires here, although they seem to mainly be aimed at the off road market. Off the top of my head, the Duratracs, KO2s, and Grabber At2 tires all have the symbol. I believe one of the Nitto Terra tires have it too.

I’ve personally used the Duratracs and the Grabber AT2. For me, they have been very usable year round, and provided enhanced traction in snow. Since I live in the northern Midwest, I intend to stick with tires with the symbol.

That’s surprisingly low. I've heard of people only getting 40-50k out of the duratracs, which I thought was rough.

they’ll probably be fine for another 10-15K of summer use, but one fall, one winter and one summer and they’re aren’t gonna be up to snow a second time. (she’s a *VERY* agressive driver and spends time on both dirt and pavement at speeds that Tacomas aren’t know to be good at... so the short wear, while surprising in it’s shortness, is not exactly unexpected)
